'NCIS' Season 12 Spoilers: Tony DiNozzo No Longer A 'Wounded Bird' Without Ziva David?
The new season of NCIS will bring more change into Tony DiNozzo's life, including a new love interest. And, Michael Weatherly, the actor who plays Tony, is ready for his character to move on.
"I think he's moved past being the wounded bird," Weatherly told TVGuide.com. "[Last year,] we decided to whip that guy into shape and get him excited about the future and not holding on to the past. Tony is making choices that are not passive. He's not content to sit on the side and cash his check until it's time to retire. I think he's going to have more fun than he's ever had."

Showrunner Gary Glasberg revealed that this new woman will appear around the fourth episode and the two are going to meet through a special case.
Many fans are still sensitive over the idea of Tony getting romantic with a woman other than Ziva David (Cote de Pablo). But, according to Glasberg, the character needs to carry on with his life.
"It's time for Tony to continue to grow a little bit," he told TVLine.com. "He went through a lot last year emotionally and tried to deal with Ziva's departure as he could."
Season 12 of the CBS show will premiere at 8/7c on Tuesday, Sept. 23. The new spin-off, NCIS: New Orleans, will kick off right after.
