Hell on Wheels began its fourth season last night, with Cullen Bohannon at Fort Smith and away from the railroad for now.

Anson Mount Discusses His Character's Arc On Hell On Wheels

However, there is already information out there about the second episode of the season. On Saturday, Carter Matt reported on what to expect from the continuing adventures of Hell on Wheels.

The episode is entitled "Escape from the Garden," which is relevant because the season premiere was called "The Elusive Eden." This is all in relation to Fort Smith, where Bohannon and The Swede are continuing their battle. The synopsis indicates that in "Escape from the Garden," Bohannon and The Swede will be battling as Cullen tries to plan his exit from Fort Smith, presumably with his wife Naomi and their child.

Big Changes Promised On Season 4 Of Hell On Wheels

Additionally, a "new adversary" will be arriving in Cheyenne, an integral hub of the railroad at the time, and will "make his presence felt." Said adversary is John Allen Campbell, the governor of Wyoming, who is a new character this season played by Jake Weber, and appears to be a new villain this year.

Eventually, Bohannon will likely make it out of Fort Smith, because it seems unlikely he will be kept away from the railroad all season, but when, and how, he gets away from The Swede remains to be seen. Will it happen in this episode? Furthermore, just what kind of impact will Campbell make when he shows up in Cheyenne? Hell on Wheels airs on AMC on Saturday nights.
