Mayim Bialik, "Sheldon Cooper's Girlfriend" Receives Emmy Nomination
Mayim Bialik of "The Big Bang Theory" has received an Emmy nomination for best supporting actress in a comedy series for her role as Sheldon Cooper's girlfriend Amy Farrah Fowler.
If you aren't familiar with Bialik, travel back 20 years to NBC's hit TV show "Blossom" where Fowler starred as Blossom Russo until 1995. She had since been doing voice-over work for cartoons.
Fowler returned to the small screen as Dr. Farrah Fowler in Season 3 of "The Big Bang Theory" in 2009.
Bialik attended UCLA and earned a Ph.D in the field of neuroscience. She is married to Michael Stone and has two children.
Earlier this year, Bialik wrote a new book defending the practice of "attachment parenting," which focuses on a holistic upbringing. The actress is known to be one of several famous practitioners.
"When we treat our children kindly and expect love and give love, we hopefully are raising children that then expect that and give that to the world around them," Bialik told NewsOK. "It is very consistent with a 'green' style of parenting."
Bialik admitted that she still breastfeeds her 3-year-old son Fred. She also said she is not a fan of using diapers on her children.
She wrote in her new book: "You're basically training your child to use their pants as a bathroom, and two years later we have them turn around and do all sorts of complicated manipulations to get them to unlearn."
