'Vampire Diaries' Season 6 Spoilers: Elena, Stefan & Mystic Falls Crew Impacted By 'Big Bad' [VIDEO]
There's a new "big bad" coming to The Vampire Diaries this fall and it will affect a lot of the characters.

"It's a long, slow-burn mythology that will unfold over the course of the entire season and will really impact each of our characters in deep ways and it's smart and it's interesting and it's small, which I like," executive producer Julie Plec told E! Online. "Instead of trying to top ourselves year to year, we try to scale back and see if we can keep it really personal and rooted in character."
It's unclear what will unfold, but judging from past experiences in Mystic Falls, anything is possible.

The crew will also deal with the loss of Damon and Bonnie next season. However, Paul Wesley said that his character, Stefan, won't help much to find his brother. The actor dropped the bomb during an interview with TVFanatic.com at Comic-Con in San Diego in July.
"He takes off, he leaves town and he decides that he doesn't want to have any part," Wesley said. "We think that he's searching for Damon and Bonnie. We think that he's being proactive but in reality he's gone. He's doing his thing and he's completely disinterested, he's apathetic, he's given up."
Season 6 of The Vampire Diaries premieres on Thursday, Oct. 2 at 8/7c on The CW.
