Bachelorette Winner Jef Holm Engaged To Emily Maynard; Couple May Tie Knot in Africa?
Emily Maynard went through 25 men on her televised search to find love and now, she can finally say that she is no longer a bachelorette. On Sunday night's finale of The Bachelorette, the North Carolina single mom gave her final rose to Jef Holm, 27, who then proposed with a Neil Lane ring that Maynard, 26, accepted.
Holmes was chosen over race car driver Arie Luyendyk, who Maynard sent home a day before their final date, after being honest with him about her strong feelings toward Holm.
Maynard came on the show with her 7-year-old daughter, Ricki, after ending her engagement to Brad Womack, who proposed to her during the 15th season of The Bachelor. This season's show took the singles to London and Croatia and finally to the island of Curacao, where Maynard and Holm spent their final date having a seaside picnic and a swim with Maynard's daughter.
Before the actual proposal, viewers were skeptical over what the show's outcome would be after Maynard confessed on camera that she was not sure she wanted to get engaged even though she loved Holm. Holm himself had doubts whether his love was reciprocated, stating that Maynard never told him that she loved him.
On After The Final Rose, the couple announced that they would travel to Africa on a humanitarian trip. Holm is the co-founder of People Water, a sustainable water bottle creator, according to The Huffington Post . "I am going to take Emily to Africa with my company and build wells," Holm said. He also joked that they just might get married while there.
On the show's recap, Holmes also announced that he would be moving from his native Utah to Maynard's hometown, Charlotte, N.C. Though required to keep their relationship mum until after the finale aired, Holm said on After the Final Rose that they have been able to spend almost every weekend together in a different location and a few where Maynard's daughter has joined them on.
"I never in a million years thought I'd be so in love as I am," Maynard said.
