"I'm grateful you got all the plagiarized lines," Harrelson joked to McConaughey. "Was that too inside?" he added with mock nervousness.

Both, McConaughey and Harrelson have been nominated for oustanding lead actor in a a drama series.

Interestingly enough, FX's Fargo has been nominated in the miniseries category whereas True Detective got the bigger category with outstanding drama series.

Back in May, when it as announced that HBO would be sending the show for outstanding drama and not the miniseries category, show creator Nic Pizzolatto expressed mild concern.

Pizzolatto didn't necessarily view this as a good move because he felt that his show had a better shot at winning in the category of minseries.

"I've got conflicted feelings about it, and they're probably what you'd imagine," Pizzolatto said. "I probably just went from being a contender to a long shot, but it was a great vote of confidence in their belief in the show's quality."

The first season of the series was was directed by Cary Joji Fukunaga.
