Emily Maynard, Jef Holm Not Interested in 'The Bachelorette' Spin-Off But Wedding Broadcast Maybe
"The Bachelorette" Emily Maynard denied rumors that she wants to do a spin-off show or a documentary of her wedding planning and denied reports that she wants to pursue a broadcasting career.
In a teleconference with reporters Tuesday, Maynard and Jef told reporters that they wanted to live a "normal" life off-cameras. However, they left the door open to make a broadcast of their wedding day.
"I have no interest in ever doing any spin-off show or anything like that. I don't know how that got started but it's certainly not true. I have been looking forward to the day that I get to go back to normal and not have to worry about cameras or anything like that," Maynard told reporters.
"And, no, I have no interest in pursuing any kind of broadcasting career or anything in TV. I think being the Bachelorette was a good enough experience and I'll leave on a good note," she clarified.
But when a reporter asked them whether she and Jef wanted their wedding televised, she said they will make the decision when the time comes.
" I never in a million years thought I'd be the Bachelorette, so if there's one thing I've learned it's to never say never, but I also think a wedding is a private thing and it's one of those things that we just have to talk about when the time came," she said.
Jef answered: "I think it would be a really sweet thing to let people see it [the wedding] on TV, but at the same time it is a personal and a private matter, and so we just - when the time comes, we'll discuss it and we'll decide."
During the teleconference, the couple opened up about their plans for the near future. They plan to travel to Africa as part of a project of Holm's company People Water.
According to the company's website, Maynard and Holm will first travel to Ghana where they will visit some of the wells that were built there to provide clean water to the communities around.
Eventually, Holm will move to Charlotte where Maynard and her 7-year-old daughter Ricki live.
"We'll be in the same city. We'll be able to go out on dates. I'll be able to take Ricki to soccer practice and swimming lessons and whatever she has going on and be an intricate part in her life and Emily too. We'll be close together and be able to plan a wedding face to face, and it will be really fun," Holm told reporters.
