It looks like Victor Frankenstein (Harry Treadaway) will be back in his lab cooking up chaos when Penny Dreadful returns to Showtime for its second season.

On Friday, producer Christopher King shared a photo from Frankenstein's lab on Twitter, revealing a desk piled gig with books, drawings, and even a human skull.

So what's Frankenstein up to? Another "creature" perhaps? Unlikely. Frankenstein will probably still have his hands full with his first creation Caliban (Rory Kinnear), who finally got his "bride" during the season one finale. Whether by Frankenstein's design or other supernatural elements, one thing is for sure: there will be more monsters this season. Key Prosthetic Makeup Artist Sarita Allison has even boasted as much.

The production schedule seems filled with scenes requiring prosthetic configurations, keeping make-up artists on the set hard at work.

While Caliban remains the drama's most iconic "creature" figure, there is also Ethan Chandler's (Josh Hartnett) werewolf form, which was revealed at the end of season one. Throw in some vampires and maybe even some new ghastly beings and there will be plenty of new and unique faces in the premiere episode alone.
Penny Dreadful returns to Showtime for a second season in 2015.
