The network announced its decision to cancel Dallas in early October after three seasons. “We are extremely proud of the series, which defied expectations by standing as a worthy continuation of the Ewing saga. We want to thank everyone involved with the show, from the extraordinary cast to the impeccable production team, led by the show's creative forces, Cynthia Cidre and Mike Robin. We especially want to thank the people of Dallas for their warm and generous hospitality during the production of the series,” the network said in a statement posted on Facebook.
The Dallas reboot kicked off in 2012 with 7 million viewers, but that number began to decrease over time. The season 3 finale on Sept. 22 only brought in 1.7 million viewers.
The show featured several cast members from the original show (1978-1991), including Patrick Duffy, Linda Gray, and Larry Hagman, who passed away in 2012. The new additions included Jesse Metcalfe, Jordana Brewster, Julie Gonzalo and lead star Josh Henderson.
Henderson released his official statement via YouTube to address the cancellation and expressed a great deal of gratitude to the loyal fans. Watch it here.
