'Dallas' Cancelled By TNT: Showrunner Has Hope & Already Has Season 4 Planned Out With 'Fun Cliffhanger'
Dallas may have been axed from TNT, but showrunner Cynthia Cidre is optimistic that the show will find a new home on another network. In fact, she already has a plan for a fourth season as well as a script for the premiere episode.
Josh Henderson Releases Statement About Dallas Cancelation
"I do have a bible for the next 15 episodes, and I turned in [Episode] 401 two days before we got canceled. The next day, the next writer turned in 402, and another writer turned in 403," Cidre told Yahoo TV.
She also revealed: "We had a really fun cliffhanger coming for the end of Season 4, too."
See What Dallas Fans Are Tweeting
However, unlike shows like Community which found a home online after being canceled from cable television, Dallas probably won't have the same luck.
"A streaming service is not compatible with our foreign deals, unfortunately, because those deals are all very profitable, and the rest of the world loves Dallas. So I think we're looking at cable. There's CMT, there's Reelz, there's WGN, there are a lot of possibilities," Cidre said.
Just like Cidre, Dallas fans aren't giving up. Thousands are continuously posting tweets to get a new network's attention and have even signed a petition. The petition, posted on Causes.com and started by a fan named Sara Duckworth, has over 70,000 signatures to date. Their efforts haven't gone unnoticed. Cidre described their attempt to save the Dallas reboot and their love for the show "very gratifying."
"Their hair's on fire," she said. "We may only get 3.3 million [viewers] or something, but those are people you can count on and who will find it if it moves to a different network. You don't even have to do this massive advertising. It's not like a casual fan who drops in and enjoys the show for three weeks and then decides they're going to go watch something else."
