Her character has been a staple on NBC's Days of Our Lives for over two decades, but after the final episodes of October, Allison Sweeney's character of Sami Brady will officially exit the show-and fans are sure to be surprised by how Sami says goodbye.

In an interview with TV Guide, Sweeney revealed some of the things fans can expect when her final episodes air from October 27-October 30, hinting that they'll be genuinely surprised by some of the goodbyes she makes.

'It's going to be a big loss for Kate. At least, that what Lauren Koslow tells me all the time," she said. "Kate and Sami were at odds all those years and then it turned out that they're practically the same person. Their bond was just getting started. Then there's Sami's final scene with Nicole, which is fabulous and a hell of a lot of fun. It's really going to catch the viewers off guard."

Following the death of her husband, EJ (James Scott), Sami is set to leave Salem for the glittering lights of Hollywood, after movie executives decide they want to make a movie about her-something Sweeney thinks is a beautiful send-off for her character.

"It gives me such a giggle," she said. "The idea that Hollywood execs read Will's article and want to be in 'the Sami Brady business' was a sweet send-off that I felt to the bone. For all of Sami's trials and tribulations, Days was sending her-and me-off with love and appreciation, and that means more to me than I can possibly say."

And though Sami will be taking the kids and going on a brand new adventure that promises to be fulfilling and fun, Sweeney did admit that there is a bit of her that is still saddened by the fact that her on-screen husband won't be joining them.

"When I first heard that was the plan I was disappointed....it bummed me out when I heard EJ was going to get shot and be 'mostly dead' or whatever you call it in the soap world," she admitted. "That classic DiMera taking away of the body leaves us with a mystery, I guess. But it's not a mystery for Sami. She has to honestly deal with losing EJ, so I sunk my teeth into all those grief and mourning scenes."

But even though fans won't likely see EJami (as the characters are referred to) reunite, and Sami certainly won't be a daily presence anymore, it won't be the official last time that Sweeney will ever appear on the show, as she says the door is always open for her return.

"Sami desperately needs something to look forward to so she's taking the kids off on a new adventure, but the writers made sure it's not anything permanent and Sami can come back to Salem any time she wants," she said. "Are you kidding? Days celebrates its 50th anniversary next year. No way am I missing that!"

Days of Our Lives airs Monday-Friday at 1 p.m. on NBC.
