Soaps in Depth reported on Monday that actor Jeffrey Christopher Todd has been cast in The Young and the Restless and will make his first appearance in December.

Todd, who starred in 2008's 1968 Tunnel Rats, will play Tobias, “a Jabot employee working on Ashley's team in the lab.”

Could a possible romance flourish between the newcomer and Eileen Davidson’s character, Ashley Abbott?

Davidson, who first appeared on the soap opera in the '80s, signed a full-time deal over the summer.

The network "has been reaching out for quite a while and wondering what I wanted, so the deal we made suits my life very well," the 55-year-old told SoapOperaDigest about her contract at the time. "I'm really happy. I've put in a lot of years in this medium, which I don't take for granted, so I'm very grateful."
