Mexico defeated Japan 3-1 Tuesday in the soccer semi-finals at the London Olympics 2012 securing the first Olympic medal ever for the country's soccer team.

Japan opened the score after 12 minutes with a goal from Yuki Otsu but Mexico tied the score in the 31st minute with a shot from Marco Fabian.

Mexico's Oribe Peralta scored the second goal for his team on the 65' mark and Javier Cortes completed the scoring with a shot at the last minute of the match.

Mexico will play against the winner of the other semi-final between Brazil and South Korea. The finals will be held at Wembley Stadium on Saturday.

Brazil vs South Korea kicks off Tuesday at 2:45 p.m. EST.
