The 51-year-old, who plays NCIS Director Leon Vance on the hit CBS show, will direct a winter episode.
"I'm honored and humbled by this opportunity to make my directorial debut on NCIS," Carroll said in a statement. "I've always believed that my greatest strength as an actor, the thing that has been most important to my success, is my ability to collaborate with others. It has served me well as an actor and I'm going to rely very heavily on it as a director!"

Executive producer Gary Glasberg added: "Rocky Carroll's versatility and range of talent never ceases to amaze us. We know how gifted he is in front of the camera. We're very excited to add the job of director to his impressive resume."
Carroll isn't the first NCIS star to try his luck in directing. Michael Weatherly, who plays Agent Tony DiNozzo, became the first cast member to do so when he directed during season eight and then again in season 10.
"As the director, I had certain powers," he told TV Guide in 2011, "and I hope the audience is pleased."
NCIS airs on Tuesdays at 8 p.m. EST on CBS.
