Beach Volleyball Olympics 2012: Misty May-Treanor Says No One Can Match Her Win; 'Can't Be Done Again'
It was of no shock to many that beach volleyball players and teammates Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh Jennings took home the gold at the volleyball finals on Wednesday, marking their third consecutive Olympic gold medal win.
Their victory came with them not even losing one match, winning each of the 21 that they played, including those in Athens, Beijing and now London Olympics, according to NBC. With all their glory, the players are confident that their consecutive wins cannot be matched by any other team.
"I really think it's something that can't be done again," May-Treanor said. Jennings chimed in by saying, "Staying together in a partnership for that long and getting through all the battles, that's a really challenging thing to do...we set the standard. Now it will be fun watching people chase it."
Their "journey" started 12 years ago when they first teamed up, and they have become an unbeatable contender in any match they go in. With Wednesday's final win, they became the first three-time Olympic beach volleyball gold medalists.
Opponents cannot deny it either.
"I don't think there's going to be another team like Kerri and Misty," said USA volleyball player Jen Kessy.
