Team USA and defender Heather Mitts look to take home the gold in Thursday's soccer finals against Japan in the 2012 London Olympic Games. However, the highly coveted medal would only serve as one of the many accomplishments that Mitts has attained.

Currently not affiliated with any club at the present time, Mitts has stated that tonight's matchup will mark the end of her career. The women's team is looking to send the 34 year-old off on a high note, by defeating Japan to win it all.

This past May, Mitts had the following to say regarding her physicality before heading into the very last Olympic games of her career, according to NBC:

"I'm probably the fittest I've ever been." I'm healthy and I'm just loving playing. I feel so sharp and strong," she stated.

Known for her innate athletic ability, Mitts has recently been delving into the world of television commentary and sideline reporting. She has even served as a studio analyst for ABC, ESPN and ESPN 2 as well as numerous Major League Soccer broadcasts.

Besides using her soccer wisdom, the athlete had also managed to parlay her looks into the world of modeling, as she had previously graced the pages of the 2005 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue. She was also voted Playboy Online's sexiest WUSA player in 2001 and ESPN.com's "Hottest Female Athlete" in 2001.

Although we should see a lot more of the star off of the field going forward, her upbeat attitude and defensive abilities will surely be missed.

In her personal life, the athletic beauty has been happily married to NFL player A.J. Feeley for 2 years.

Team USA will compete against Japan for the gold medal at 2:45 PM EST on Thursday, August 9th.
