Late night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel, 44, asked for Molly McNearney's hand in marriage while they were vacationing in South Africa and now the couple is engaged, People reported.

McNearney, 34, accepted the proposal while the couple was visiting Kruger National Park. Kimmel's publicist confirmed the report but did not provide any further details

Kimmel is the host of his own talk show, ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" and McNearney is one of the head writers.

The pair began dating in 2009. Kimmel was in an off-and-on relationship with comedian Sarah Silverman from 2002 to 2009.

"After Jimmy and Sarah broke up, Molly and Jimmy both found themselves single, and they clicked," a source told People. "They're really happy together."

The marriage will be the second for Kimmel and the first for McNearney.

Kimmel is set to host the 64th annual Primetime Emmy Awards in Los Angeles next month.

The talk show host was offered the job the night before the nominations were announced live on television. He replaced Nick Offerman who hosted last year.

The former standup comedian and radio show host announced the nominees wearing pajamas with ABC "Scandals" star Kerry Washington.

When he learned his show was nominated for Outstanding Variety Series during the nominations announcement, Kimmel replied, "Should I give a speech now or what? How does this work?"

The 64th annual Primetime Emmy Awards will air live on Sunday, Sept. 23, at 7 p.m. Eastern Time on ABC, from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles.
