Real Housewives of Atlanta: NeNe Leakes Reveals "I Have a Two-Month-Old Granddaughter"
When "Real Housewives of Atlanta" star Nene Leakes discovered her 22-year-old son, Bryson, was a father-to-be, she was anything but pleased.
And Bryson knew his mother would not be happy about him and his 21-year-old girlfriend Ashley Hill's new edition so, he hid the news from Leakes for as long as he could.
"I only found out about everything because I ran into Ashley when she was more than six months along," Leakes told In Touch magazine in an exclusive interview. "I said, 'You look pregnant.' And she said, 'Hasn't Bryson told you?' But he hadn't because he knew that I wouldn't approve of him having a child so young."
"I didn't feel like he was ready for such a big responsibility," she said. "I was his age when I had him, so I know how tough it is. I didn't want him to make the same mistakes that I did. I needed to let it sink in."
But once Bri'asa Bryan - now, two months old - was born in mid-June, her maternal instincts got the best of her. "I always wanted to have a girl," the new grandma said, "and now I have one! She's just adorable."
The doting grandmother is taking care of nearly everything, financially speaking, so that Bryson's girlfriend doesn't "feel strapped." "I paid for everything in the nursery: the clothing, the diapers," she told In Touch magazine.
Leakes can't help, but go "crazy" making sure her granddaughter is the most stylish baby in Atlanta: she's bought her "little dresses, sparkly headbands, and Gucci shoes."
"We just love her," Leakes gushed.
At first, the 44-year-old was not keen on being called "Grandma," but now Leakes embraces the title.
"Forty is the new 30. I'm a sassy, fashion-forward grandma!"
