NCIS will soon return from its brief hiatus with the anticipated episode featuring Gibbs' second ex-wife and executive producer Gary Glasberg teased some spoilers.

When speaking with TVLine.com, Glasberg said the appearance of Rebecca Chase (Jeri Ryan) will be "unexpected, but welcome."

In the preview clip below - released on the NCIS YouTube page on Dec. 24 - Rebecca surprises Gibbs when she appears at a crime scene with his first ex-wife Diane (Melinda McGraw).

"You see the different chemistry that he has with different women," Glasberg said.

Cast member Emily Wickersham, who plays Ellie Bishop, previously revealed to the website that it will be a special episode.

"The fans are in store for some goodies," she said. "We just finished shooting that episode, and it's a big deal for the team. And it'll be the same for the fans, a huge deal. It'll be an exciting one, for sure."

Aside from ex-wife drama, the "action-packed" upcoming episode will also explore the situation Sergei Mishnev, who is targeting Gibbs. The drama will "really come to a head" in February, Glasberg said.

NCIS returns with Jeri Ryan on Tuesday at 8 p.m. ET on CBS.
