During the Sept. 11 edition of WWE’s Monday Night Raw, famous commentator Jerry “The King” Lawler went into convulsions and collapsed at the broadcast booth. After previously teaming up with Randy Orton to wrestle Dolph Ziggler and CM Punk, the legendary grappler returned to his post and abruptly suffered a heart attack.

Soon after, medical personnel attempted to get Lawler into the backstage area by a stretcher. HIs broadcast partner, Michael Cole, who was visibly shaken, then addressed the television audience by stating that the situation was “serious” but that the 62-year-old was breathing on his own.

While many assumed it was part of the WWE’s storyline, the incident was actually 100 percent real and broadcasted on several major news outlets. World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) put out a statement following the less than ideal incident.

“Jerry 'The King' Lawler suffered a heart attack while commentating during last night's broadcast of Monday Night Raw in Montreal," the WWE said. "We are hopeful Jerry makes a full recovery and returns to WWE in the near future. Our thoughts are with Jerry and his family."

In a YouTube video, the reality of the situation could actually be witnessed. While superstars Daniel Bryan and Kane faced off against the Prime Time Players, the long-time broadcaster fell out of his seat.

Viewers can also see just how concerned many of the Montreal fans were, as well as wrestler Titus O’Neil - who appeared to be looking back at the situation from the ring apron. At one point during the ordeal, a “Jerry” chant began to dominate the crowd, as the fans voiced their utmost support.

Let’s hope he has a speedy recovery for the sake of the millions of wrestling fans.
