Boardwalk Empire Season 3 Episode 2 Spoilers & 'Resolution' Recap
The second season of HBO's hit series "Boardwalk Empire" halted in a bloody and mourning manner leaving its fans in wonder. However, the show is back and excitingly kicked off its third season with "Resolution."
Left to pick up the pieces on her dead son Jimmy Darmody, youthful mother Gillian Darmody (Gretchen Mol) along with the late one's ally Richard Harrow (Jack Huston) have taken over care for Jimmy's son Tommy. Revenge on Darmody's killing appears to be the only option for Gillian, as Harrow kicks off the plan by shooting up Jewish Gangster Manny Horvitz. A disfigured World War I veteran, he forms an unlikely bond with the easy on the eyes Darmody for the sake of the kid.
Now an orphan, young grandmother Gillian attempts to convince Tommy that she is his "new mother." While the Harrow disagrees by still reminding Tommy about his late parent's talents and hurting over their deaths. This does not sit well with Gillian, who prefers no talk of them what so ever.
Corrupt politician Nucky Thompson has made some difficult New Year's resolutions that surely affected his fellow associates, including newbie gangster Gyp Rosetti (Bobby Cannavale) who looks to potentially be facing off against Nucky in the future.
Thompson's former mistress and new wife Margaret Thompson (Kelly MacDonald) is still conflicted over her Catholic morals due to her husband Nucky's heinous crimes. With her daughter crippled by polio, Margaret believes that God is punishing her for staying mum over the criminal acts.

Mixing business with pleasure in New York, Nucky bristles at the collection tactics of Gaston Means, a "special investigator" with ties to Attorney General Harry Daugherty. At St. Theresa's, Margaret is troubled when her altruism is met with resistance by both a patient and an idealistic doctor. Gyp extends his stopover in Tabor Heights, a town halfway between Atlantic City and New York, with an eye towards establishing a strategic foothold. Chalky and his daughter Maybelle fail to agree on her future with Samuel; Eli gets a new boss and faces new realities at home; a major liquor shipment takes an unexpected detour.
