Castle (Nathan Fillion) and Beckett (Stana Katic) might be broaching the subject of children as ABC's Castle moves forward.

'Castle' Boss Addresses 'Vanishing' Story Line & Exploring More 'Beckett Mythology'

Castle show runner David Amann spoke with TVGuide.com recently about Beckett's priorities now that she's gone through finding justice for her mother's murder as well as marrying Castle. The latest episode featured Beckett wondering about having a child with Castle, hinting at possible pregnancy in the future.

"Beckett is looking ahead," Amann said. "She's trying to figure out what her next step is, and that encompasses family. She's been driven for the better part of her adult life by the death of her mother, which is now resolved. Her relationship with Castle is settled, so she's at a place now where she really needs to be thinking about, 'What does she want that future to be?' It seems like children are going to naturally be a part of that discussion."

'Castle' Stars Still Need To Renew Contracts With Future Uncertain

However, fans should not expect any attempts at baby-making any time soon. Beckett still needs to sort things out in her head as to what she wants.

"These are all good questions that she's asking herself," Amann explained. "I don't think she has any of the answers yet, but she's asking the questions because she needs to figure out where she's headed."

With Castle heading toward its season 7 finale, there is the potential that ABC will not pick up the show for another season, as Fillion and Katic have not yet renewed their contracts. The possibility of a pregnancy tease in the finale could be enough for the network to green light another season.

Castle airs Mondays at 10 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
