The History Channel only debut season 3 last Thursday but it looks like plans for season 4 are already underway. Despite the lack of an official announcement, The Sunday Times reported that funding is already secured for another 16 episodes.

The article further went on to explain that filming is expected to begin once more in May.

While this is certainly good news for the Michael Hirst series, viewers should not prepare for any raids until the network makes the announcement official. Ratings for the period drama have slowly declined since it's first season, according to TV Series Finale, and there is always a chance that low viewership could set Vikings up for the ax.

In the meantime, fans of Ragnar (Travis Fimmel) and Co. can catch the new King's adventures Thursdays at 10 p.m. ET on the History Channel. Click the video below to see a preview for the series' next episode.
