The BBC series moved production to the Iberian Peninsula this week, and the Mistress went along for the ride. Currently filming for "The Magician's Apprentice" and "The Witch's Familiar," Doctor Who has temporarily traded the rain of Cardiff for the deserts of Teide National park, Tenerife.
Photos from Alejandro DG (via Doctor Who TV) indicates that filming focused on a promenade rock structure and appeared to involve the Master's newest regeneration.
Meanwhile, it appears the episode's alien presence has also been revealed in a photo from DWTUIP. With pitch-black head and prominent red eyes, the new creature looks like he could easily fit into a desert or volcanic environment.
Featured alongside this un-named alien are Clara (Jenna Louise Coleman) and the Twelfth Doctor (Peter Capaldi).
Penned by Steven Moffat, "The Magician's Apprentice" and "The Witch's Familiar" will serve as the opening episodes for season 9.
