The Marvel series concluded it's 8-episode freshman series on Tuesday, and showrunner Tara Butters is already thinking about what's next for her butt-kicking heroine should ABC green light a second season.

If Carter returns, writers may not keep the SSR agent in the 1940s.

"The fact is, we've talked about - and there's no definitive answer to that yet - but the fact is, we've talked about, do you time jump? Do you send her on a mission to London, do you send her on a mission to Hollywood?" Butters told Zap2It. "I mean, I still think there's some story to be told in the time period that we're at, but maybe we have the ability to, like I said, bring her to Los Angeles, bring her to London. The nice thing about being a spy is that she can pretty much go anywhere."

Wherever she goes, Carter won't bring along her grief over Captain America's apparent demise.

"For Peggy, I think that we spent the first eight episodes allowing her to put Captain America behind her, to a degree. Not that he won't always have a presence in her life, but I think she's now in a better place and is able to move on," Butters said, explaining that Carter may have a chance to explore life outside of work, perhaps even head out on a date.

Will Agent Carter be able to show us its protagonist's future? Viewers will have to wait for a season 2 renewal to find out.
