Honey Boo Boo Child Show UPDATE: Mama June Dishes On Sugar Bear's Injury
After a recent off-roading accident that nearly resulted in a leg amputation, Honey Boo Boo's father was forced to receive emergency surgery to treat a severe infection.
However, the news turned out positive, as Mama June Shannon stated that Mike "Sugar Bear" Thompson's wounded limb wouldn't need a removal. On Sept. 21, she elaborated to Radar Online on her husband's current recovery after surgery.
"He is doing better. He's recovering very well. He is not getting his leg amputated, what it was he had a four wheeler wreck a couple of weeks ago and his leg was badly bruised," she said. "Well the wound was on top they said it would drain, and on Saturday they said it was healing but it wasn't healing as well as they would like so they put him in the hospital to give him antibiotics on IV."
The gossip site also reported that the entire Shannon-Thompson clan has been rallying around Sugar Bear, as they visit him every day upon the kids finishing school.
"Here Comes Honey Boo Boo" is a TLC reality television program that revolves around the life and family of a six-year-old beauty pageant contestant, Alana "Honey Boo Boo" Thompson. While most girls around her age are playing with dolls, Honey Boo Boo instead competes on stage in beauty pageants for prizes. The cameras follow her family living life on a shoe-string budget in the small town of McIntyre, Ga.
Since its premiere on Aug. 8, the hit show has garnered the attention of millions of American households across the country. Its Aug. 9 show had been watched by nearly 3 million homes, which surprisingly beat out both the Republican National Convention and its vice presidential hopeful Paul Ryan's speech.
The season 1 finale of "Here Comes Honey Boo Boo" will be airing on Wednesday, Sept. 26 at 10 p.m. ET on TLC.
