"Sean knows the time is right for him to make the ultimate commitment to the right woman and to start his own family," ABC said in a statement today after confirming Lowe as "The Bachelor."

ABC announced Tuesday that Sean Lowe - the second to last bachelor eliminated by Emily Maynard of "The Bachelorette" 2012- will star as "The Bachelor" on its 17th season that kicks off in January 2013.

The show's first rose ceremony of the season was taped on Monday (September 24), according to a Twitter from "The Bachelor" producers.

The 28-Year-old outspoken Christian and businessman from Dallas, Texas, is "confident" that he will find his wife on the popular dating show, ABC says.

"He wants to propose once, be married once and live a faithful family life, like his parents, who have had a loving 35-year union," ABC adds.

Lowe is a Kansas State University graduate in social science and a former football college player. He has worked in the insurance industry and owns and runs an upscale, custom furniture business.
