'Scorpion' CBS: What's Next For Happy & Toby? Eddie Kaye Thomas Talks Romance [VIDEO]
Scorpion's Toby and Happy have struggled to make their budding relationship work, but the pair almost never had to go down that long and trying road.
Instead, the original pilot script called for Toby (Eddie Kaye Thomas) to express his feelings for the genius mechanic from the get-go.
"There was a whole sequence ... where me and her were on the verge of death," Thomas explained to Zap2It, "We were in this room that was storing all this information that was filling up with water and we were going to drown. And I confessed my love to her."
Despite this, the writers never actually intended to give the pair's love story away without a struggle.
"They were like, 'No, we only put that in the draft because we wanted to make it clear that that's where the characters were going. But we're not going to give that away in the first episode,'" Thomas said.
