The creature became a staple of the NBC series through the freshman and sophomore seasons, but it appears Will Graham's (Hugh Dancy) hallucination's season 3 appearance is not guaranteed.
"Curious about the fate of this guy. #Hannibal #HannibalReturnsJune4," the DeLaurentiis Co. tweeted on Tuesday, captioning a photo of the ailing stag.

Series creator Bryan Fuller previously spoke on the matter, indicating that viewers won't see magnificently antlered creature quite as often in season 3.
"We're going to see the Stag Man, the Windego; but...it feels like we're looking for what our next kind of psychological symbol is because if that was about their relationship in season 1 and season 2 and he watched it die, it feels like it should die and be born again as something else," Fuller said, according to Seat 42F.
