After beginning the post season with two Wild Card pressure-cookers, Major League Baseball action continues into the Divisional Series round. The AL West champion Oakland Athletics (94-68) will take on the AL Central winning Detroit Tigers (88-74) in what many hope will be an intense best-of-five series. Both clubs are heading into the matchup on a tear, each compiling wins in eight out of their last ten regular season games, but only one team will get to advance to the ALCS.

Prior to the start of the 2012 season, many individuals were already writing the A's off and assumed that the Texas Rangers would runaway with the AL West division. However, most were sadly mistaken. Much like the film "Money Ball," which was based off of the organization in the past, Oakland exceeded expectations. The ball club actually started the year sporting the lowest payroll in all of the MLB and ended their campaign outperforming most other teams.

Oakland right-handed pitcher Jarrod Parker told CBS Sports that he's embracing the team's role as the underdog and it will clearly not be affecting the rest of the ball club either despite having to face Goliath-like Detroit.

"We've been the 'David' all year. I think obviously it's a role and an image that we've kind of taken on and been able to embrace and it's fun."

However, Triple Crown winner Miguel Cabrera stated that the Tigers ball club doesn't plan on taking the streaky Athletics lightly.

"We know we've got a great ballclub. We know what we have in the clubhouse. We know we're going to face a very hot team like Oakland. They play unbelievable baseball right now."

The heavy hitting Cabrera had a monster season belting 44 home runs and 139 RBI's and was the first Triple Crown winner since 1967. However, the star wasn't the only notable story, as the A's ended up sweeping the then first place Rangers to overtake the AL West in the final game of the regular season and will to continue their run.
