Romney on 47 Percent Fox News Video: 'I was Just Completely Wrong' [WATCH]
Mitt Romney said this week his remarks about the 47% of Americans were "just completely wrong."
In an interview with Fox News in Hannity on Thursday, the Republican Presidential Candidate addressed the infamous remarks that sparked outrage among Americans.
"In this case, I said something that's just completely wrong," Romney told Fox News. "And I absolute believe however, that my life has shown that I care about the hundred percent."
Romney's original remarks were recorded secretly at a fund-raising event in Florida in May. The video was posted on liberal magazine Mother Jones.
Romney said 47% of the country are people "who are dependent upon government, who believe they are victims, who believe the government has a responsability to take care of them, who believe they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you name it."
Prior to Thursday's interview, Romney had said his point about the 47% was "not elegantly stated."
"Let me put it that way I'm speaking off the cuff in response to a question and I'm sure I can state it more clearly in a more effective way than I did in a setting like that ," Romney said at a press conference following the release of the footage.
Romney prevailed over President Barack Obama at the first Presidential Debate on Wednesday. His campaign gained momentum following his performance at the debate after weeks of stumbles.
