Fans rejoiced when they heard Kim Matula would be briefly reprising her role as Hope Logan on The Bold and the Beautiful, but Hope's brief return to L.A. may not be quite the way fans imagined.

What Kim Matula's Return Could Mean For The Hope Logan Recast

According to The World Of B&B Bulletins, a spoiler site for the soap opera, Matula's one day appearance, which was taped on March 4 and should air within the next couple of months, won't be exactly as fans thought, with Hope potentially not actually returning to L.A. but appearing instead via a video chat.

If the rumor is true, it would likely hold up that her return is meant to help tie up the current storyline involving Hope's husband, Wyatt (Darin Brooks), who filed for divorce after failing to convince Hope to come back from Italy following her miscarriage of their son. As the lawyers officially declare their divorce final, Hope could be a part of the scene in the video form, allowing her to be involved with the proceedings, without having to explain a random absence from Italy.

Kim Matula RETURNS As Hope Logan

Matula opted not to renew her contract with the soap back in November last year, resulting in Hope's exit from the show right in the middle of a juicy storyline. Following endless back-and-forth with Liam (Scott Clifton) for years, Hope married his brother, Wyatt, and the two were expecting their first child together.

Things changed for the couple however after Wyatt's over-bearing mother, Quinn (Rena Sofer) continued to push Hope too far, ending with her showing up at Brooke's (Katherine Kelly Lang) house after the baby shower. After her talk with Hope failed, the younger girl tripped over her heels and fell down a stone staircase-losing her baby in the process. Shortly after, she left for Italy in an attempt to try and get over her heartbreak.

The Bold and the Beautiful airs Monday-Friday at 1:30 p.m. on CBS.
