They've been on an emotional roller coaster trying to figure out their relationship status since their initial hook-up during sophomore year, but high school could potentially end with Jenna (Ashley Rickards) and Matty (Beau Mirschoff) finally getting their act together on Awkward.

In an interview with MTV about her new book, A Real Guide To Getting It Together Once and For All (Really), Rickards teased that if it were up to her, the characters would definitely find a way to make it work and would for sure be together by graduation.

"Get with Matty already, just get with Matty!" she said when asked what advice she would give to Jenna. "Be his girlfriend. I don't understand. We've been here five years."

"And to follow her heart, too. She overthinks so many things, which I can relate to, but sometimes, she just needs to throw logic out the window and go for it," she added.

Rickards also dished some of what fans can expect when the highly-anticipated graduation and post-graduation carnival episodes air with the new season.

"It's definitely different than your typical 'high school graduation' episode right off the bat," she said. "There's a pretty big surprise concerning Val. Also it took us two days to film that, and it has never taken us two days to film a sequence. Every cast member was there, 250 extras and, like, it could not have been more complicated. And there will be lots of speeches and lots of dialogue from me, Jillian, Molly-a lot of long stuff. The writers had a field day."

And as for the carnival? There's a chance that a full reconciliation with Matty and Jenna could have happened by then, as Rickards admits she and Mirschoff were filming a scene together for it that wound up having a lot of takes make a blooper reel.

"There's a scene with Beau and I where we're going down a slide at, like, four in the morning. He goes down no problem, and my first try, I just stop because I didn't have any momentum," she said. "And I'm, like, pushing myself down. On the second try, I stop again, so there's a blooper reel of me just pushing myself down this slide for like 10 seconds. But it was a great day. A lot of fun."
