'Salem' Season 2: New Enchantress Is 'Beyond Toxic', Find Out What Lucy Lawless' Witch Wants From Mary [VIDEO]
A Witch War is brewing in Salem.
As if having the magistrates on their back wasn't enough, the Essex witches will have to contend with a new power when season 2 begins. Lucy Lawless' centuries old enchantress will be drawn to Salem by Mary's completion of the Grand Rite and she won't take kindly to this new influx of power.
"'I'm playing the soul of violence really - which is inextricably intertwined with attraction - very attracted to Mary Sibley who has something that she wants, so look out!" Lawless said of Countess Palatine Ingrid von Marburg, according to Fox 6. "The Witch War starts right here."

The countess will have a decidedly wicked way of staying young, one that has managed to eschew her mortal death despite various incarnations. Ingrid's power won't be swirling around her in any obvious way, Lawless warns, but that doesn't make her any less of a scourge on the residents of Salem.
She's the most powerful villain I've ever played," Lawless told USA Today. "We don't see her with wands or shooting lightning bolts out of her fingers, but she can move around in space and time and suck information out of people in tremendously unsettling ways. She's beyond toxic."
