Following an episode which traveled back in time to discover the truth behind Luke's (Anthony Geary) mental state, General Hospital will be taking another interesting turn for its 52nd anniversary celebration, by airing two episodes live.

The broadcasts are set to air on Friday, May 15, and Monday, May 18, in time to be a part of the May sweeps ratings period, which closes soon after.

"Taking such an iconic show as General Hospital live for two days is both exhilarating and risky," executive producer and head writer Frank Valentini said in a statement. "I am enormously proud of our cast, crew and staff for all their tireless dedication and hard work that will be leading up to this daytime television event. It's live television and absolutely anything can happen, but that is what's fun about this and we're absolutely up to the challenge."

Though it will be the first time General Hospital takes on live episodes instead of those which are pre-taped, Valentini has experimented with live episodes before, previously doing a full week's worth of them back in 2002 for One Life To Live, in between Valentini's turns as a producer for that soap.

It is unclear what storylines may wind up being tackled during the live episodes, but there could be a chance that they will be ones seeing the truth about Jake Doe's (Billy Miller) real identity as Jason Morgan. So far, the character still happens to be unaware that he is actually Jason back from the dead, and is currently trying to figure out if a woman named Hayden Barnes (Rebecca Budig) is really his wife, as she claims.
