'Agents of SHIELD' Season 2: Coulson Needs Help From A Shocking Source; Dangerous Partnership With Ward Revealed [VIDEO]
Agents of SHIELD's Phil Coulson will soon need to put his faith in the series' most notorious turncoat.
Grant Ward (Brett Dalton) will be Coulson's (Clark Gregg) last resort during "The Frenemy of My Enemy." It seems the Coulson/Hunter (Nick Blood) partnership will be in full swing during episode 18, but the SHIELD vs SHIELD debacle will cause them to add a third member to their team.
"A dangerous new alliance is formed as Coulson and Hunter turn to the last person anyone would expect - Grant Ward!" ABC teased. "As the war between S.H.I.E.L.D. factions continues, Skye and Lincoln will find themselves drawn into this conflict."
Ward is a wild card as of late, working for no particular organization but taking on Bakshi (Simon Kassianides) nonetheless. Dalton recently previewed the characters hopes for a reunion with his former SHIELD team.
"We've seen him be naïve in certain ways or blissfully optimistic that people would understand his point of view," Dalton told Entertainment Weekly. "He has these moments of, 'They'll understand! They're on my side,' and they're like, 'No, you straight up murdered people. You can't come back from that. And you lied to us for months.'"
Find out how Coulson will actually react when "The Frenemy of My Enemy" airs April 21.
