Agents of SHIELD never ceases to amaze. In an episode filled with shocking twists and old familiar faces, Jaiying managed to produce the mother of all shockers.

Coulson Needs Help From A Shocking Source On 'Agents Of SHIELD'; Dangerous Partnership With Ward Revealed

Long suspected to be dead, Skye's (Chloe Bennet) mother pulled a Lazarus and reentered the story during "Afterlife." Now that the guiding voice of the Inhumans is mysteriously alive and kicking, executive producer Jeffrey Bell is here to fill in the blanks - most importantly the story behind the man who reassembled a butchered Jaiying after Whitehall's attack.

"[Cal] was the one who put her back [together]," Bell informed The Hollywood Reporter. "He was the one who found her and stitched, sewed and put the parts back together so she could use her healing ability to come back."

This revelation, however, confuses the source of the righteous anger that has fueled Cal throughout season 2. It was previously believed that Cal wanted to kill Whitehall in retaliation for his wife's murder, but it seems the crazed doctor was more upset about his wife's inability to forgive him for losing their only child while she was at HYDRA's mercy.

'Agents Of SHIELD' Season 2: 'Melinda' Plot Revealed, Bahrain Mystery To Complicate Robert Gonzales Battle

"Calvin's known that she's been alive, but she was upset with him for losing Skye. They looked and didn't find her. As in real life, when a couple loses a child, they sometimes split in anger," Bell explained. "[Cal thought] if I can find my daughter, if I can reunite my family; my wife will forgive me for what happened 26 years ago, and she will love me, and we'll be a happy family."

Well, Jaiying appears to be quite happy to see her daughter once more, but the whole "happy family" dynamic will be a long time coming.
