Kim & Kourtney Kardashian Take Miami? No Way, Says Local Residents
Kim and Kourtney Kardashian flew down to Florida to begin taping "Kourtney & Kim Take Miami", but local residents made sure they did not take over.
The Kardashian sisters were unable to acquire a temporary home for their three-month stay at three different South Beach areas, thanks to neighbors.
South Beach locals refused to sign off on the necessary paperwork needed that would allow the Armenian beauties the chance to live in one of the luxury properties. The reality stars needed signatures from immediate neighbors as well as support from 90 percent of local homecowners up to 500 feet from their requested address. They failed to get the support they needed due to growing concern over the invasion of film crew and paparazzi in their quiet neighborhoods.
The sisters ended up in the less desirable area north of South Beach.
"They found a gated community in North Miami Beach," Raul Gonzalez, a rep with Miami Beach's Office of Film and Print told Belle Isle Blog.
The Kardashians have taken up residence in a 51,000 square foot property in a gated community that is 15 miles away from South Beach. The sketchy area is known for being riddled with crime and other seedy elements.
"The area is known for its hourly hotels, strip clubs and high crime rate," a source told Radar Online. "It's a far-cry from their usual posh digs, with just a 7-Eleven and an abandoned old bank close by."
So far, the sisters have made the best of it. They recently took Kourtney's kids Mason and Penelope to the Wizard of Oz interactive exhibit at the Miami Children's museum.
"Kourtney & Kim Take Miami" will premiere in January 2013.
