'The Walking Dead' Season 3 Preview: Big Changes Taking Place, Details
AMC's hit series "The Walking Dead" will be returning for season 3 on Sunday. In its first season, the highly-acclaimed series only started out with a mere six episodes. However, the response to the zombie show was so overwhelming that it was picked up for a whopping 13 episodes last season, and will return on Sunday for sixteen additional episodes.
Showrunner Gary Mazzaro spoke to the Hollywood Reporter about complying with the growing demands of "Walking Dead" as well as the changes that will be implemented in the upcoming season.
"We're expanding the scope. We've added a lot of characters, new sets, new storylines, and it feels like a much bigger show."
In season three, "The Walking Dead" will also feature the returns of missing characters with some newer ones. Michonne, the machete swinging woman who saved Andrea, will be back along with Merle, the previously handcuffed brother of Daryl. The Governor (from the graphic novels series) and his right-hand man Milton will also come aboard for the latest installment of the show.
Executive producer Robert Kirkman told Entertainment Weekly that the Milton character is "not exactly a scientist," but is an intelligent guy who will conduct "experiments" while working with the Governor in a scientific capacity.
The newest season will put the group of survivors up against some brand new issues. Andrea gets completely separated from the group. Saved my Michonne and then taken to Woodbury against her will. While the belief will be that she has died, Andrea will feel betrayed due to Rick's group not attempting to search for her. To top it off, she isn't aware that Shane is dead. Lori will also suffer from his death thinking that she's the one to blame for his passing.
AMC's "The Walking Dead" will premiere its debut episode "Seed" at 9 PM ET on Sunday, Oct. 14.
