'Castle' Season 7 News: Renewal Still Unknown As Nathan Fillion & Stana Katic Continue Negotiating With ABC [VIDEO]
There is still no good news regarding a possible eighth season of ABC's Castle as contracts with the show's main stars remain under negotiation.
Jaleel White & Carly Rae Jepsen Appearing In New Episode Of 'Castle'
Nathan Fillion (who plays Castle) on the series and Stana Katic (who plays Beckett) are still apparently locked in negotiations, according to the latest report from TVLine. The report claims that the stars still haven't signed a new deal with ABC and that it could "go down to the proverbial wire" as the current seventh season comes to a close next month.
Fillion and Katic were originally only contracted to star in seven seasons of Castle, and it is still uncertain if either of them wish to continue further with the show. Seven years is a long time with one series for any actor, and they may wish to move on to other career opportunities.
Why Is Rick Meeting With 'Distinguished' Psychiatrist on 'Castle'?
Castle show runner David Amann spoke with TVGuide.com back in February, suggesting that they were just trying to produce consistently good episodes.
"We're hopeful that everything gets resolved. In the meantime, we're just building the best end of the season that we can," he explained. "Obviously, we've thought about a bunch of different scenarios, but our main obligation is to our audience and to deliver great shows. That's what we'll be trying to do, and we think we have a bunch of them lined up all the way to the end."
Networks usually announce their fall schedules in May, so the clock is ticking.
Castle airs Mondays at 10 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
