'Hannibal' Season 3 Spoilers: Inside The Mind Of Francis Dolarhyde, Bryan Fuller & Richard Armitage Tease The Great Red Dragon [VIDEO]
Prepare to sink your teeth into Francis Dolarhyde's back-story during Hannibal's third season.
The series' eponymous Dr. Lecter (Mads Mikkelsen) will dominate the first half of the season, but episode 8 will introduce a new and delightfully twisted psychopath for Will Graham (Hugh Dancy) to hunt. Known as the Great Red Dragon and the Tooth Fairy, Dolarhyde (Richard Armitage) will become Hannibal's third main character.
"He is in the show almost as much as Hugh and Mads are in the second half of the season," series creator Bryan Fuller told Digital Spy. "So we really spend a lot of time with Dolarhyde, in a way that neither of the movies have had the real estate to."
While a lot of Dolarhyde's scenes will involve him sitting, solitary in a room, viewers will be treated to an gimlet-eyed view into his murderous motivations and dark past.
"Most movies are maximum two hours long and we get six hours to really explore the fine detail of what it means to be a psychopath, and understand the roots of that, the birth of a child that turns into a monster," Armitage explained, according to Digital Spy. "It's going to be very interesting."
