Outlander's Jack Black Randall is not a homosexual.

That's the latest news from novelist Diana Gabaldon, author of the Outlander series. Gabaldon took to Facebook in the wake of "Lallybroch" to clear up viewer's misconceptions about Jack Black's sexuality.

"I just want to make _one_ thing clear, before drawing your attention to a couple of interesting ones: To wit, Black Jack Randall is _not_ a homosexual," Gabaldon explained. "He's a pervert. He's a sadist. He derives sexual pleasure from hurting people, but he's not particular about the gender of a victim. (Personality, yes--gender, no.)"

Fans who support the theory that Randall is only interested in men cite the Red Coat's inability to become aroused while assaulting Jenny in conjunction with an upcoming scene between Randall and Jamie.

- MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD -

While in Randall's custody later this season, Jamie will be tortured by the soldier. During that scene, Randall will insist that Jamie says, "I love you." This, however, is not due to a romantic or sexual attraction.

"He wanted Jamie to say, 'I love you,"' during the torture at Wentworth," Gabaldon posted. "Not, I think, _as_ love, but as evidence of complete submission/spiritual destruction."
