The PBS British-American period drama "Downton Abbey" has continued to garner the attention of millions of viewers worldwide. In the midst of its third season, the show has recently released information about its eighth episode.

With the end of the season nearing, details on future episodes of the popular series are seemingly hitting the web at a rapid pace. Case in point, ITV has released the following details on the eighth episode, which isn't set to air until Nov. 4:

"There is excitement in the house and village as the annual cricket match approaches, and it brings out Robert's competitive side ... As Violet's great niece Rose arrives, a trip to London reveals there is more to her than meets the eye ... Thomas's future is in Carson's hands, but Bates may be an unlikely ally ... What secrets are Mary and Matthew holding back from each other?"

In other notable "Downton" news, it's being reported that actor Dan Stevens (Matthew Crawley) may be bowing out after the current season ends. The star recently told the Daily Mail that his entire family will soon be en route to the Big Apple for a long getaway.

"New York for me is going to be one big adventure. I will be taking the whole family out and we will be there for six months. I don't know if I will be returning to 'Downton,'" Stevens stated.

Stevens aside, the television masterpiece may also see the exit of another one of its main characters: Maggie Smith (Violet Crawley). Creator Julian Fellowes spoke to TV Line regarding the uncertainty behind Smith's return.

"I can't tell you, 'Oh, yes, she's definitely contracted [for Season 4]' - because she isn't. It's entirely up to her when she stays and when she goes."
