Ward has been slinking around Agents of SHIELD all season, but the traitor's true intentions will soon be out in the open.

'Agents of SHIELD' Season 2: Who Will Uncover Simmons' Dark Side? Finale Takes On Deadly Issue

No longer a member of SHIELD but no longer a member of HYDRA, either, Ward has yet to find where he fits into the post Captain America: Winter Soldier world. He spent the first half of the season fulfilling his promise to reunite Skye with her father, but Ward's new game plan is cloudy, particularly in the wake of Bobbi's abduction.

As the season 2 finale blurs into the summer hiatus, however, Grant's actions will become crystal clear.

"I think very quickly it will present itself, what his motives are in this moment," executive producer Jed Whedon explained to Zap2It. Fellow EP Maurissa Tancharoen also spoke on the subject, teasing that "his motives will become more clear by the end of the season, and hopefully they'll become blatantly clear in Season 3."

Season 2 of the super-powered ABC drama will draw to a close on May 12 with "SOS" and "SOS: Part 2." As the battle between the Inhumans and SHIELD comes to a head, the line between friend and foe will become as blurry as Ward's loyalties.
