'Doctor Who' Season 9: Will River Song Return? Alex Kingston & Steven Moffat Weigh In [VIDEO]
Whovians shouldn't count River Song out just yet.
Doctor Who's daughter of Rory (Arthur Darvill) and Amy (Karen Gillan) may still have some story left to tell. Unseen since 2013's "The Name of the Doctor," Eleven's (Matt Smith) wife could technically make a return at any point.
"All I can say is... spoilers! But what I will say is the sonic screwdriver that I had in 'Silence in the Library,' which had been given to me by the Doctor, is not the sonic screwdriver that has been seen... yet," Alex Kingston (River) said, according to Doctor Who TV, later adding that the powers that be have yet to tell her that her role is through.

Despite this, showrunner Steven Moffat previously stated that River's return would have to be driven by a strong storyline - she can't just appear for the sake of the fans.
"It's all about 'Do you have a story that's worth it?'" Moffat informed Nerdist. "Unless you've got a story that is absolutely informed and invigorated by their presence, just bringing a character back in an ordinary story won't do."
