Angela Bassett doesn't know much about FX's American Horror Story's upcoming fifth season, but she has heard rumors of what time in history it will take place.

Bassett, who has stared in two seasons of American Horror Story already, is returning for season 5, which is subtitled Hotel. The legendary actress recently spoke with GoldDerby about what she expects for the new season as well as why she will miss former costar Jessica Lange.

Speaking on Hotel, she said she herd rumors about it being set during a Civil War era.

Matt Bomer Talks Working With Lady Gaga on 'American Horror Story'

"I don't know what year it's set in. For the longest I've heard the rumor of 'Civil War.' I don't know what year it's set in," she admitted.

Having the setting of a hotel in a Civil War era would certainly be interesting, given the calamity ensuing in America. It would especially be relevant for Bassett as an African American woman playing a character from that era.

As for Bassett's feelings on Lange, who departed the series after Freak Show, she has nothing but kind words.

"She'll definitely be missed. She was phenomenal to work with," Bassett said, of Lange. "I mean, all that she possesses, her well of emotion, how she gets it done. It was just marvelous to watch and to bear witness to. But we still got Kathy [Bates]!"

Bates will indeed be returning alongside Bassett, as well as series regulars Sarah Paulson and Evan Peters. Other stars in the new season include Lady Gaga, Matt Bomer, Wes Bentley, Cheyenne Jackson and Chloë Sevigny.

American Horror Story: Hotel is slated for October on FX.
