'Dancing With the Stars' 2015 Cast: Derek Hough Admits He Still Can't 'Jump, Spin, Kick & Push Off' Yet [VIDEO]
Derek Hough is still not 100 percent ready to rejoin ABC's Dancing With the Stars, and he knows it.
'DWTS' Pro Derek Hough Has Nothing But Positive Thoughts For Nastia Liukin
Hough suffered multiple injuries while rehearsing for the 10th anniversary special, so he has had to sit out for two weeks now. While Hough has been minimally involved in the routines for the past two weeks, his celebrity partner Nastia Liukin has been dancing with Sasha Farber as a replacement.
The fan favorite pro will not be able to be Liukin's full time partner again in time for Monday night's episode, but he wrote in his TVGuide.com blog that he'll still improving.
'Dancing With the Stars' Introduces Cool New Judges Twist
"I'm getting better. I'm starting to move more," Hough wrote. "Sometimes I feel like I can really dance and then I kick and I'm like, 'Nope! Big toe's still hurting!' My ankle is getting better too, but I can't put too much weight on it yet. We're working on it. There's recovery and then there's dance recovery. I still can't jump and spin and kick and push off yet."
The upcoming semifinal week will feature a new twist that involves the judges. All four judges will have their own couple to guide through the week in terms of song, dance and creative. Liukin and Farber (and Hough) will be helped by Len Goodman.
"This week we have the judge's pick -- they have full reign over everything, including the outfits! So we'll see what Len comes up with!" Hough said. "Our other dance is the quickstep, which I definitely will not be able to do! But we're definitely gonna again try to do something creative and fun with it."
It remains to be seen if Hough will be able to dance in time for the finals, assuming Liukin makes it past the upcoming week.
Dancing With the Stars airs Mondays and Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
