'Secrets & Lies' Season 2: Crawford Family All Officially Not Returning In New Season, Will Fans Ever Get Full Closure? [PHOTO]
Fans already knew Ben Crawford's (Ryan Phillippe) story had come to an official close after the Secrets and Lies season finale, but there has now been official confirmation that the rest of his family is also completely finished and won't make any appearances in the upcoming second season either.
A Shocking Death Is Revealed In The 'Secrets & Lies' Finale
Belle Shouse, whose character Abby was revealed to be Tom Murphy's killer in the show's May 3 finale (her father took the fall for her so she could escape town with her mother), took to Twitter after fans asked if her character would be revisited to confirm that she, Phillippe, her on-screen sister Natalie (Indiana Evans) and her on-screen mother, Christy (KaDee Strickland) would all not be back for the new season.
"Hey tweeties, thx 4 the sweet tweets but monkey is #dunzo on #SecretsAndLies as well as the rest of the cast. New case for Det. @JulietteLewis," she wrote May 7.
'Secrets and Lies' Is Officially Returning For A Second Season
The tweet confirms that the finale--and shocking twist revealed in the online special Cornell Confidential clip, were the official ends of the Crawford clan. The finale ended with Christy and Abby driving off to a new location, while Natalie tried to cope with her family splitting up and Ben confessed to the murder and got locked up.
However, in the online clip afterwards, which was 14 months after the season finale's events, Natalie celebrated her 18th birthday--and decided to work with Cornell to clear Ben's name and send Abby away so she could serve time for her crime. Cornell managed to catch up with Abby and Christy in their new home--and during the process it was strongly hinted at that Ben had died in prison.
Though the cast may not all be returning except for Lewis' Detective, who will face a new mystery when the show picks up again in the 2015-2016 season, there could be a chance, depending on the new case, that there could still be references made to the Crawford situation--even without any of them appearing on-screen.
