'Supernatural' Season 10 Spoilers: How Many Years Are Left [POLL]? CW President Teases Futur

Ragnar's presence had profound effects on Wessex and King Ecbert - not to mention that he has an illegitimate child hanging out up in Mercia - and series creator Michael Hirst promises these problems will not disappear as the King of Denmark becomes concerned with the Scandinavians.

"Ecbert is one of my favorite characters, and Linus Roache is one of my favorite actors," Hirst explained to Entertainment Weekly. "He brings a lot to the show. So, of course, I have no intention of letting that world go. There is unfinished business. It's always on Ragnar's mind. One day he's going to go back and try and settle it. Someone has to pay for the destruction of the settlement."

If Ragnar does return to Wessex he may find out that Queen Kwenthrith has a child of Viking blood. Or, at least that's what she claims. According to Hirst, there is a good chance that Kwenthrith isn't lying.

"My best guess is that it is Ragnar's child," Hirst said, according to Entertainment Weekly. "The skepticism was justified, but that child will be an important child."
