Agents of SHIELD's Grant Ward is out for revenge.

'Agents Of SHIELD' Season 3: What's Next For Lincoln? EP Talks Luke Mitchell & Secret Warriors

Agent 33 is dead, and Ward (Brett Dalton) couldn't be more distraught. He also couldn't be more to blame. It seems like Kara's death has snuffed out the former agent's last sliver of kindness, and now Ward is on an even darker road - one that apparently involves taking over HYDRA.

For a little insight into Ward's post-season 2 finale mindset, Entertainment Weekly turned to Dalton himself.

"[Ward is looking for] revenge, but revenge for what? It's something that he did. It's his own mistake," Dalton explained. "It goes straight to anger. There's that warm extra little thing that was giving him hope still, the little candle of hope that maybe he is a good guy, but when this happens with Kara, that flame is out. He's just snapped, in a way, and wants to have revenge on the world."

If Ward ever was in line for redemption, he probably won't be anymore. Viewers, however, will have to wait until the third season to find out exactly what the turncoat is planning.

"[Ward's] motives will become more clear by the end of the season, and hopefully they'll become blatantly clear in Season 3," executive producer Maurissa Tancharoen teased, according to Zap2It.
